We care!

Independence Physical Therapy was founded with the vision of creating a physical therapy practice that would provide excellent quality of care in Crete, IL. We saw our first patient in January 2010 and have had the pleasure of treating the best patient population that physical therapists could ask for. We enjoy this community clinic and patients we serve tremendously!

It is a pleasure to offer our experience, knowledge and passion for health to you!

Our clinic is professional, yet comfortable and friendly. Located in the heart of Crete, we are committed to providing exceptional patient care. Our goal is that our patients achieve their highest level of function through individualized care.

Meet our therapists

Dr. Barbara Gerk, PT, DPT

I completed my Masters Degree from Governors State University in 2001 and enjoyed many years in practice. In 2016 I returned to academia, completing my Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree in 2019 from Governors State University. It has been my privilege to serve the Crete area since 2010. When I am not in the clinic, I enjoy a very active life with Dan and our children.

Dr. Daniel Gerk, PT, DPT

I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelors Degree before completing my Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Physical Therapy at Governors State University. I enjoyed working in multiple healthcare settings before Barbara and I settled into our own practice, proudly, in our own hometown.

Our Services

We provide out-patient physical therapy services for all levels and abilities. We strive to optimize one's level of function through individualized, skilled care to improve mobility, strength, balance and agility in order to return to daily living and prevent future injury. This is patient-centered care, where patient's goals are emphasized.

We include exercise, manual therapy, home or health club program development, as well as modalities such as electrical stimulation or ultrasound. We also offer work conditioning tailored to individuals who anticipate returning to work following an injury.
